Lapis lazuli is a deep-blue metamorphic rock that has been prized since antiquity for its good looks and its use in jewellery and ornamentation. It’s composed of the minerals lazurite, calcite, and pyrite, and its colour is because of the presence of lazurite. Lapis lazuli is located in plenty of places around the globe, together with Afghanistan, Chile, and the USA.
The title “lapis lazuli” comes from the Latin phrase “lapis”, that means “stone”, and the Arabic phrase “lazhuward”, that means “blue”. The stone has been used for hundreds of years to create jewellery, sculptures, and different gadgets of artwork. It’s also believed to have therapeutic houses, and it’s continuously utilized in meditation and religious practices.
